Ready to start a show? You’ll need to connect your laptop or desktop computer to your in-house TV screens. This guide will help you set up the connection and ensure a smooth streaming experience for your venue.
Firstly, as NetQuizz shows are streamed over the internet, you will need a reliable internet connection.
Take a moment to understand your venue’s setup. Some venues may use projectors, audio systems, or mixers with additional speakers, while others may connect directly to their TVs. Knowing your setup will help you choose the appropriate connections.
Connecting to TV Screens:
To stream NetQuizz shows from your computer to your TV screens, the most common method is to use a HDMI cable.
- Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your laptop or desktop computer, ensuring a secure connection.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI input port on your TV, also ensuring a proper connection.
- On your TV, select the HDMI input/source that corresponds to the port you connected the HDMI cable to.
- Adjust the display settings on your computer to mirror or extend your screen to the TV. On Windows laptops, press the Windows key + P to access display options. On Mac laptops, go to System Preferences > Displays and choose the appropriate display mode.
- The Netquizz logo should appear on your TV screen.
- To ensure that the audio is played through your TV speakers, adjust the audio settings on your computer. Select the HDMI audio output device as the default playback device. This will transmit the audio signal through the HDMI cable to your TV.
- Using the NetQuizz mobile app, press play to start the show.
Connecting to an Audio Mixer System:
If your venue has an audio mixer system, you can connect your laptop or desktop computer to it using a HDMI cable.
- Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your computer.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an available HDMI input port on your audio mixer system.
- Connect your audio mixer system to your TV or display device using the appropriate audio cables.
- Set your TV to the correct input/source to receive the video signal from your computer via the HDMI connection.
Utilizing eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel):
If your audio system and TV support eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) and you wish to utilise this feature, follow these additional steps:
- Ensure your computer is connected to the TV using the HDMI cable as described in the previous steps.
- Check if your TV has an eARC HDMI port, which enables high-quality audio transmission from the TV to the audio system.
- Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the eARC HDMI port on your TV.
- Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an available HDMI input port on your audio system that supports eARC.
- Set your audio system to the appropriate input source.
- Adjust the volume levels on both your computer and the audio system to ensure a balanced audio output once the show begins.
By following these steps, you can successfully connect your laptop or desktop computer to your in-house TV screens and, if applicable, your audio mixer system.
